LearnEnglish is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal information to provide you with the best learning experience:

• Learning Progress Data: Your vocabulary learning progress, quiz scores, achievement unlocks, and study statistics are stored locally on your device.
• App Preferences: Your selected CEFR level (A1-C2), daily learning goals, notification preferences, and theme settings.
• Device Information: Basic device information such as OS version, app version, and device type for analytics and crash reporting.
• Usage Analytics: Anonymous usage data to help us improve the app, including feature usage, session duration, and crash reports. Collection requires your explicit consent - you can enable or disable analytics at any time in app settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• Personalized Learning: To track your progress and provide personalized vocabulary recommendations based on your CEFR level.
• Spaced Repetition: To schedule review sessions for words you need to practice more.
• App Improvement: To understand how users interact with the app and identify areas for improvement.
• Performance Optimization: To monitor app performance and fix crashes or bugs.
• Push Notifications: To send daily reminders if you've enabled notifications (you can disable this anytime).

3. Data Storage and Security

Your learning data is primarily stored locally on your device using secure storage mechanisms:

• Local Storage: All your progress, favorites, and settings are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers by default.
• Premium Subscriptions: If you purchase a premium subscription, payment processing is handled securely by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not store your payment information.
• Data Backup: We do not automatically back up your data to the cloud. Your data remains on your device.

4. Third-Party Services

LearnEnglish integrates with the following third-party services:

• Google Mobile Ads: For displaying advertisements in the free version. Google may collect device identifiers and usage data. View Google's Privacy Policy.
• Firebase Analytics (Google): When you consent to analytics, we use Firebase to collect anonymous usage data to improve the app. Data collection only occurs with your explicit consent and can be disabled anytime. View Firebase Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat: For managing premium subscriptions. View RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• Expo/React Native: Our app is built using Expo and React Native frameworks. Crash reports may be sent to Expo for debugging purposes.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You have full control over your data:

• Data Access: All your data is stored locally on your device and accessible only to you.
• Data Deletion: You can delete all your progress and data by uninstalling the app or using the "Reset Progress" option in Settings.
• Opt-Out of Notifications: You can disable push notifications in the app settings or your device settings.
• Opt-Out of Ads: Upgrade to Premium to remove all advertisements.
• Ad Tracking: You can limit ad tracking through your device settings (iOS: Limit Ad Tracking, Android: Opt out of Ads Personalization).
• Analytics Control: You can enable or disable analytics collection at any time in Settings > App Settings > "Help Us Improve".
• Content Updates: You can enable or disable automatic content updates in Settings > App Settings > "Content Updates".

6. Children's Privacy

LearnEnglish is suitable for users of all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. The app does not require account creation or personal information to function.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except:

• With your explicit consent
• To comply with legal obligations or valid legal requests
• To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property
• With service providers who help us operate the app (e.g., ad networks, payment processors) under strict confidentiality agreements

8. Analytics Consent and Your Control

We respect your privacy choices regarding analytics data collection:

• Explicit Consent Required: Analytics collection only begins after you explicitly agree to it. The app will ask for your consent when you first use it.
• Consent Management: You can change your analytics preferences at any time by going to Settings > App Settings > "Help Us Improve".
• Default Setting: Analytics is disabled by default. We follow a privacy-first approach.
• What Analytics Include: When enabled, we collect anonymous usage patterns, feature interactions, learning session durations, and crash reports to improve the app experience.
• What Analytics Don't Include: We never collect your personal learning content, specific words you're studying, personal information, or anything that could identify you.
• Easy Withdrawal: You can withdraw consent at any time, and analytics collection will stop immediately. This won't affect your learning experience.

9. Automatic Content Updates

LearnEnglish may download updated lesson content to enhance your learning experience:

• Automatic Content Updates: The app can download new vocabulary lessons, grammar exercises, and content improvements without requiring an app store update.
• User Control: Content updates are disabled by default. You can enable them in Settings > App Settings > "Content Updates".
• What Gets Updated: Educational content such as new vocabulary words, grammar lessons, example sentences, and practice exercises.
• Content Source: Updates are downloaded from our secure content servers and undergo integrity verification before being applied.
• WiFi Preference: By default, updates only download over WiFi to respect your data usage preferences.
• Local Storage: Downloaded content is stored locally on your device and doesn't require an internet connection to use once downloaded.
• Privacy Protection: Content updates don't collect or transmit your personal learning data back to our servers.

10. Data Retention Policy

We believe in keeping your data only as long as necessary and giving you control over it:

• Local Data Storage: Your learning progress, preferences, and achievements are stored locally on your device and remain under your direct control.
• No Automatic Cloud Backup: We don't automatically upload your learning data to our servers or cloud storage.
• Analytics Data Retention: When analytics are enabled, anonymous usage data is retained for up to 14 months to identify trends and improve the app.
• Immediate Data Deletion: You can delete all your data immediately by:
  • Disabling analytics to stop future data collection
  • Uninstalling the app to remove all local data
• Server Data: Since most data is stored locally, we have minimal server-side data to retain. Analytics data (when enabled) and crash reports are automatically purged after 14 months.
• Account Deletion: As the app doesn't require account creation, there's no account data to delete. All data is tied to your device installation.

11. International Data Transfers

LearnEnglish is available globally. Your data may be processed in different countries where our service providers operate. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by:

• Posting a notice in the app
• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Sending an in-app notification (if applicable)

Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
